'Ghetto Talent Show,' Watermelon Eating Contest Outrages Community

Miami city leaders are apologizing for a news release that invited summer campers to a ''Ghetto Style Talent Show'' and ''Watermelon Eating Contest.''
The release said that children participating in the summer camp who "know the meaning of ghetto style" would have a chance to "prove just how ghetto they are.''
Members of the black community expressed outrage at the wording of the invitation to the talent show. The show will be part of the grand finale picnic for the city's summer camp program to be held Friday at Hadley Park.
After being criticized by residents of the nearby Model City neighborhood and community leaders, Miami Parks Director Ernest Burkeen, who is black, released a formal apology and announced the renaming of the talent show.
The show will now be called the "Funky Talent Show," according to Burkeen's written statement. The watermelon contest will still be part of the event....

comment: I am late young readers in ranting on this still recent farcical attempt attempt at "embracing the culture of today's youth and their language"..However I ask myself who are these leaders and who elected them. Surely anyone capable of such misreckoning of one's constituents let alone culture, did not just recently lose use of their prudence.
Such absolute incompetence had to have reared its ugly head in some other political blunder. To those city leaders I say..
Please get your collective heads out of your collective asses. Regardless of whatever warped idea of todays black youth, but I haven't met the teenager yet, white or black,`that has been down with being humiliated or stereotyped. And it makes it even worse when the diss comes from your own block...Get a clue.

why is it that we, meaning me and everyone else in the world who shares my sometimes slightly askew sense of humor, can laugh so easily when, for example,`someone slips on a banana peel. I mean I/we usually initially instinctively look to see that the person is actually unharmed,but mere milli-seconds upon verifying the well being of "the fallen"an eruption of uncontainable laughter soon follows...What is it about "slapstick" that we enjoy so much?

Once again I find myself at the wee hours in the morning..I haven't spoken to Kris in few days. Surprisingly, it hasn't been as bad as I'd imagined. I still think of her a lot..but not constantly. I guess I've found a way to cope with her being in my life less by simply focusing on my own life..without her. And although I haven't given up hope of generating some sort of flame amongst the yet still smouldering embers...later on that...

Instant Ramen Inventor Achieves Lifelong Dream: Space Noodles
Momofuku Ando, the inventor of the popular instant ramen noodles and founder of Nissin Food, achieved his lifelong dream earlier this week when the Discovery space shuttle successfully blasted into space carrying some high-tech space noodles. The special space noodles, called Space Ram, went with Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi, who took part in the Discovery mission. Red Nova has more about the noodles.
Nissin Food Products Co. showcased on Wednesday a vacuum packed instant noodle specially designed for Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi to eat during the U.S. space shuttle Discovery's current mission.
"This tastes good," Nissin Food founder and Chairman Momofuku Ando said on eating the "Space Ram" noodles in front of reporters.
"I'm happy I've realized my dream that noodles can go into space," he said.
The company said it has no plan to commercialize the product.

Its been a while since I've had a opportunity to really get into a deep meditation. With the kids usually running around during the day and me working at night..I am planning to go on a retreat into two weeks. I really need the time to cleanse my quartz and amethyst crystals as well as work on my chakras..I guess I've been sorta scattered since I stopped meditating. I think the links that I established were grounding as well as enlightening.. Its definitely time to get back to that..
